I wanted to write a defensive post for Second Skin. But it started to get too long and scattered. So I just wanted to say this in response to all the hate caused by a light being shined on the negative aspect of MMO gaming and gaming as a whole.

Anyone who has played MMO’s since UO; hell since MUDs know people who have lost jobs, relationships, friends, became addicts of drugs, people who didn’t sleep and/or made the game their #1 priority.

Addiction is an issue with all aspects of life. Sex, Drugs, TV and yes even GAMING can be addicting to people.

And some of you might know this “LLTS”

So the PSN is not playing “catch up” with XBL anymore? That to me is just fine and dandy. The more consoles out there pushing new features will only make my experience in the long run that sweeter.

I can say that sony does understand the user base a little better then microsoft. Just look at the ps3. Sony allows the user to surf the web, install an OS and let’s the user go down to the local computer store and put their own hard drive into thr console instead of having to pay 3 times the drives worth just to have it say Microsoft on it.

However for some reason I like to keep my 360 in gold tier of online though I don’t play online often. Definatly not enough to warrant the current price for 12 months.

But now with the praise I give sony about knowing the customer when it comes to features the console owner may want they still have no clue about pricing thier machine. Sony still doesn’t think and is actually getting mad about the price drop idea.

Well guess what Sony I won’t be buying your console until its at least $100 cheaper and you have more games that don’t run on the 360 as well. And for good measure some cool features to go with @home.

Sony listen to the userbase and put the console at a lower price, people do want the box but not enough to buy it for 3 games and blu ray.

Blu ray is useless unless on a nice large tv. Its slow to read and has sold less then HDDvD.

Once you give me some god of wars or heavy rains with a price cut come see me.

For the third time this evening the power has dropped in my neighbourhood. Maybe it is a sign that I should go to bed.

But how can I? I have the 2nd episode of Torchwood to watch. I am litterally sitting here in the dark wondering what the is going on in the Torchwood episode that I was watching? How is Jack Harkness going to escape? Will Jaunto figure out what he is doing and is Gwen Cooper going to make it to her destination with no troubles?

I needed to see the end of this episode of the show before I sleep as it will be one of those things I will obsess over while laying in bed.

Alas, there is no point. Even if I do stay up do I risk my computer frying when the power goes out again?

Bah! Guess I will do some surfing of the web on my phone before I sleep. I am sure something in the gaming world will piss me off enough to take my mind off the power going out.

A while back there was an article up on Gamasutra that I book marked with the intent to read and give some thoughts on. Today I clicked that link and read it.

It’s called ‘Quality Quality Assurance: A Methodology for Wide-Spectrum Game Testing’ by David Wilson. Who is noted to be a QA vet from Nintendo and Microsoft who is currently at ArenaNet.

Anyone in the game industry or anyone who has any interest in the development process should read this gem of info. I wanted to say more but he basically says everything I tell my managers when I am leading a team.

So go check this article out it’s quite good.

For some god awful reason Blizzard has decided to screw over the lan gamers, cyber cafes and most male Koreans aged 10-40. Multiple sources have quoted Rob Pardo saying there won’t be lan support for the upcoming StarCraft 2.

I don’t know about you but StarCraft on LAN is the only way I would play that game. Let’s hope Blizzard knows how much the LAN party community and LAN tourny players got screwed with that one. I have a feeling a quick patch will be released or someone in the community will mod it.

Still think Blizzard should support it on their own.

So with the release of Hero and the fact the Haykuro figured out how to root the HTC Dream, us Android users will now get to use flash on our beloved “google” phones.

Now that said I am a little nervous rooting my phone so quickly after root was found. I do think it would have been awesome for the wizkid to have waited to release root until tomorrow, July 1st. A pereft happy birthday Canada for us Rogers HTC Dream users.

Anyways once rooted and after messing with the gui a little I will for sure post some screenshots.

As I was saying a couple posts ago I was going to wait to get a G2 or another Android phone when they came out. Well I could not wait and I got a G1 on launch from Rogers.

I am loving the phone so far. In fact I am typing this post on the phone using WPtoGo. A nice little app for blogging. It’s very basic and does not have a lot of features but it works.

Now only if someone would figure out how to root this sucker. Rooting on the Rogers Wireless version of the phone is different then the T-Mobile version.

Anyways this concludes my phone blogging while smoking test.
